Just download the Firmware from below linksBurn it with with ImagBurn softwareafter that put the Cd in you navigation drive and it will update your OSI am from Australia & have 2006 E66.I want to upgrade the Firmware and need help in this process.anybody knows how to upgrade the Firmware and any link to down load the file/s.Appreciate for the help. I got question.my 02 e65 didn't come with any navigation disc.even though its 02 it got dvd navigation instead of cd navigation.so if i follow steps on this thread, will my navigation finally work???
Or is this just to update current navigation if you already have oem disc from bmw???thxThis is not a map disc. If you don't have a map disc, your navigation won't work. This is firmware, which has to do with how the unit uses and interprets the data on the map disc.If your navigation screen says to insert a map disc, that should be all you need. If someone retro-fitted a DVD unit and didn't configure it, then there's a lot more work to be done. No, it will NOT work! This is for DVD navigation system only.I recently purchased my 745Li and did not test the navigation during purchase. It does not appear to be working.I figured I would pose this question to you sir, since you seem to be very knowledgeable.I've located the correct CD through the dealership.
When I insert it into the DVD navigation system in the trunk, and then attempt to use the navigation through iDrive, I receive a 'No CD is inserted.' The DVD navigation system is ON and I can hear the disc spinning in the drive. Where should I begin for troubleshooting? Would an update like this possibly help the problem if it's deemed an update is applicable?Any thoughts or recomendations you might have are greatly appreciated.thx,c.
Woops!:-)Rear DVD Navigation System with proper DVD Disc. 2005 745liHi,You should be using the 'High' DVD and not the 'Professional' I'm sure if you got it from the dealer then you have the right one.The DVD/CD drives are a common failure, My NAVI01 died and I have since replaced it with a NAVI03.You could try cleaning the lens, there is a fan in the NAV unit and it sucks loads of dust through the unit and alot gets deposited on the DVD/CD and lens itself, the disc in my NAVI01 had been in there 9 years! It was filthy!:yikes:Worth a try, I would keep an eye out for a replacement on ebay, I waited ages and got my NAVI03 for $250 which was pretty good!Stuart. And if so, in order to make the v32 software update Disc, do I simply download both files and burn both to the disc and just put it in the Navigation DVD drive? Finally, if you know, will I need some type of access code for the Map DVD disc from e-Bay or do I simply get the disk and use it? I know it is allot of information I'm asking but I really do appreciate it.

Though update is optional. No, you don't need access code. HiI have 06 730i (E65) with software version 9.1.10 hexI followed your instructions and looks OK until step 4 of the upgrade where the system recognize the CD as firmware upgrade. Then it very quickly show progress bar and cancel the process and display no nvai cd, I never get to the 'yes' step at all! The DVD in the trunk keep working for 2 min or so then eject the CD. I checked the system again and nothing change and when I insert the MAP DVD it works as usual. What am I doing wrong?!
(BTW, I repeated the process maybe 10 times with different copies from different sites and still the same result). Is that for Kingdom of Saudi Arabia? The firmware and instruction provided is for E65/E66 in US and Canada only. Sorry guy you cannot, unless you go a full retrofit upgrade which includes: MMI, Navigation Unit and for good measures ASK unit from a post 2006 and on model/s.So I tried to update my firmware/ software version for my CD navigation (NAVI01) from 7.2.8 to 7.3.2 and I was successful; however, it's now stuck at the following 'software loading is in progress screen'.
I have tried disconnecting the battery and reconnecting and still stuck at the same screen when I go to the navigation. All the rest of my idrive functions work fine.
Can anyone advise on the best source for updated map DVD's for east USA for a 2008 750Li? I didn't check the firmware version yet; just picked the car up today. But I did notice the nav.
Maps are more than limited and seem old/off. There were whole streets missing from a town nearby that aren't new streets, at least not in 30 yrs.Do I have to get them (the DVD/s) from BMW for hundreds (or similar) or are they downloadable, etc? Any risk in taking the current DVD out of the navigation module in the trunk to check its version details? Any risk in downloading map files?
